Wrestling fans hoping to get their hands on an authentic luchador mask by pre-ordering Lucha Libre AAA: Heroes Del Ring can start looking elsewhere; the masks are no longer going to be the game’s pre-order bonus.

“We originally intended to have this lucha libre mask as a pre-sale gift with purchase in our title,” Federico Beyer, director of Mexican publisher Slang, told GamerNode. “Unfortunately, that cannot be done due to some compliance reasons in the U.S.”

The original plan was to offer one of four masks — those of Dr. Wagner Jr., Octagon, Abismo Negro, or La Parka — to fans who pre-ordered the game and redeemed an included voucher.

“It’s terrible news that we won’t be able to use those masks in the U.S.,” Beyer continued. “But that unfortunately happened and we will certainly compensate the gamers in another way, which we are evaluating right now.”

It’s unfortunate that a legitimately cool pre-order bonus like this had to be scrapped — they could have made for a nice Halloween costume, provided they actually got to fans in time. Beyer didn’t offer up any ideas for what the replacement might be. A La Parka action figure, perhaps?
